Just My Type

Project from CCW Foundation
Just My Type is a typography project. I was given the typeface Hobo, and I have to find a way to manifest and play with it.
I learned a lot about how to research in this project. Using the internet to good use could help you find information that is usually dismissed.
Ideas and Processes
The project started from looking into the typeface with depth. Later on, I learned that the art nouveau movement very much inspired the Hobo typeface, particularly posters from Russia. After knowing the roots, I also looked into the usage throughout history. From the decorative 1910s to the psychedelic style during the 60s, to me, the typeface tells me one thing: change.
I then decided to talk about change. This world needs changes, and we should all be in this together.
Final Works
The final display consists of an infinity light box mirror, a manifesto, and several risograph prints. I wanted to dedicate this project to the protesters in Hong Kong. The mirror writes the slogan "You Shape Out Future" along with the reflection on the surface. I want people to rethink about their power as citizens, and especially it was about the time to vote in the UK.
The head in the prints is made up of world problems in type. If one looks into it, one could realize that nobody should ever feel complacent about the status quo.
